Global technology services company TeKnowledge has announced a strategic partnership with Equinix, the world’s leading digital infrastructure company, to accelerate secure cloud adoption and build AI-ready digital infrastructure across West Africa.
The alliance is expected to help enterprises and public sector organisations modernise their IT environments by combining Equinix’s global interconnected data centre platform with TeKnowledge’s expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, cloud, data and customer experience solutions.
The partnership comes as demand for cloud computing, AI-powered applications, digital payments and data-driven services continues to surge across the region.
A key objective of the collaboration is to help organisations meet growing data residency and sovereignty requirements by enabling critical data to remain within national borders. This approach is expected to improve regulatory compliance, strengthen cybersecurity, reduce latency and enhance trust in digital services.
According to the companies, the partnership combines world-class infrastructure with local engineering expertise to help organisations bridge the gap between digital transformation ambitions and execution.
TeKnowledge said it has more than 2,000 engineers globally, including a strong Nigerian workforce with capabilities spanning AI deployment, cybersecurity, cloud migration and digital transformation. The company believes this local talent base will play an important role in supporting enterprise and government digital initiatives across the region.
For Nigeria, where digital services continue to expand rapidly, the partnership addresses key challenges around cloud performance, cybersecurity, compliance and the growing infrastructure demands created by AI workloads.
Customers will gain access to private, low-latency connectivity across cloud, enterprise and partner ecosystems, enabling faster and more secure access to mission-critical applications. The infrastructure is also designed to support advanced analytics, AI applications and future digital services while helping organisations meet evolving regulatory requirements.
The collaboration aligns with Nigeria’s Digital Transformation Agenda and the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy by supporting secure, scalable and trusted digital infrastructure. It also reinforces efforts to improve cybersecurity resilience and promote data localisation across critical sectors.
Commenting on the partnership, Aileen Allkins, Chief Executive Officer and President of TeKnowledge, said African organisations are increasingly seeking digital infrastructure that delivers performance, security and regulatory compliance while supporting business growth.
She noted that combining Equinix’s global infrastructure with TeKnowledge’s local expertise would help customers accelerate cloud adoption, strengthen resilience and unlock opportunities created by AI and emerging technologies.
Wole Abu, Managing Director of Equinix West Africa, said the partnership brings together Equinix’s globally interconnected platform—spanning more than 280 data centres and serving over 10,000 customers worldwide—with TeKnowledge’s implementation expertise to help organisations build secure and resilient digital ecosystems across West Africa.
Also speaking, Olugbolahan Olusanya, Territory Director for Africa at TeKnowledge, said organisations require trusted partners capable of simplifying technology complexity while accelerating digital transformation.
He said the collaboration would enable secure hybrid cloud adoption, stronger cybersecurity resilience and infrastructure strategies tailored to African market realities.
The partnership will initially target sectors with increasing demand for resilient digital infrastructure, including financial services and fintech, telecommunications, government, healthcare, energy and utilities, as well as digital-native enterprises.
As AI adoption accelerates across Africa, the artnership reflects the growing importance of locally hosted, secure and interconnected digital infrastructure in supporting innovation, regulatory compliance and long-term digital competitiveness.
