Samsung Electronics West Africa has unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold8 in Nigeria, expanding its foldable smartphone portfolio with devices designed to deliver improved productivity, immersive entertainment and advanced artificial intelligence (AI) experiences.
The new foldables, announced on Wednesday, represent Samsung’s latest push to make foldable smartphones more accessible while offering users devices tailored to different lifestyles and productivity needs.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 introduces a redesigned form factor focused on everyday usability, while the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra brings Samsung’s flagship Ultra experience to the foldable category with enhanced multitasking capabilities, premium cameras and AI-powered productivity tools.
According to Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold8 weighs just 201 grams, making it the lightest Galaxy Z Fold device to date. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy and packs a 4,800mAh battery.
The device features a redesigned display system with a 10:16 cover screen for everyday tasks such as messaging and browsing, and a larger 4:3 main display for gaming, streaming and reading.
Samsung also introduced its new Flex Titanium display technology, which combines a titanium-alloy film with an enhanced titanium plate to improve durability, reduce crease visibility and deliver a smoother folding experience. The display reaches up to 3,000 nits of brightness and includes Vision Booster technology for improved outdoor visibility.

For photography, the Galaxy Z Fold8 features dual 50MP cameras covering both wide and ultra-wide perspectives. New software features include Dual Recording, allowing users to record both sides of a moment simultaneously, and My FanCam, which automatically tracks and reframes subjects for social media-ready videos.
The premium Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is designed for professionals and content creators, featuring an 8-inch main display, a slimmer profile measuring 4.1mm when unfolded, and a weight of 215 grams.
Its camera system is led by a 200MP primary sensor with HDR support, complemented by a 50MP ultra-wide camera. Samsung has also improved Nightography performance for better low-light photography and introduced 8K video recording using the APV codec, alongside Cine LUT for cinematic colour grading directly on the device.
Powering the Fold8 Ultra is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy paired with a larger 5,000mAh battery. The device supports 45W fast charging through a new dual-path charging architecture and features an expanded graphite cooling system for improved thermal performance during intensive workloads.
Samsung said the new Galaxy Z series is built around an upgraded Galaxy AI experience, with AI tools optimised for foldable displays.
Among the new AI features are Now Brief, which delivers personalised daily insights; Now Nudge, which suggests context-aware actions based on conversations; and Gemini Intelligence, which enables users to perform tasks across more than 40 supported apps and services using natural language commands.
The company also introduced Gemini Notebook, allowing users to organise notes, recordings, images and documents in one workspace while taking advantage of drag-and-drop functionality on the larger foldable display.

Samsung said security remains central to the new devices, with Samsung Knox providing hardware-level protection alongside Personal Data Engine (PDE), Knox Vault and new AI privacy controls that give users greater transparency over how their personal data is processed.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold8 are now available for pre-order in Nigeria.
Both devices come in Graphite and Cream colour options, while Violet Shadow is exclusive to the Fold8 Ultra and Lavender is available only on the Fold8.
Samsung is also offering buyers a six-month free trial of Google AI Pro, including 5TB of cloud storage, alongside an enhanced Smart Switch feature that simplifies migration from both Android and iOS devices.
Customers purchasing the new foldables through Samsung.com can also enrol in Samsung Care+, with the first three months of coverage provided at no additional cost.
The launch underscores Samsung’s strategy of combining foldable hardware with AI-driven software experiences as competition intensifies in the premium smartphone market.
